# Sauce Labs vs Endtest: Different Tools

Sauce Labs is a device cloud. Endtest is a test automation platform. Here's the difference and how to tell which one you actually need.

Whenever someone asks us how Endtest compares to Sauce Labs, the honest answer is that we're not really competitors. We solve adjacent problems, and the gap between them is the part that confuses buyers.

This post is meant to be the clear explainer.

## What Sauce Labs is

Sauce Labs is a *cloud device farm*. You give it your Selenium or Appium tests; it gives you back a fleet of browsers and mobile devices to run them on. The product handles:

- Real and virtual browsers across Windows and macOS
- Real and emulated iOS and Android devices
- Live debugging, video capture, network logs
- Tunneling so tests can hit private/staging environments

If you have a working Selenium or Appium test suite and your only constraint is "we need to run these somewhere with more machines than we own," Sauce Labs is exactly the right tool.

## What Sauce Labs is *not*

Sauce Labs does not author tests, maintain them, schedule end-to-end suites, or replace the framework code that drives the browsers. The customer brings the tests; Sauce Labs brings the runtime.

That distinction is critical, because most teams don't actually have a "where do we run tests" problem. They have a "we don't have enough tests, the ones we have keep breaking, and only one engineer can maintain them" problem.

## What Endtest is

Endtest is a *test automation platform*. The platform includes a device cloud, but its job is everything *around* the runtime:

- Codeless test authoring (record, describe in natural language, or import existing flows)
- Agentic AI that creates tests and self-heals locators when your app changes
- Scheduling, notifications, and CI integrations out of the box
- First-class email, SMS, PDF, and API testing alongside browser tests
- The same kinds of real Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android machines you'd get from a device cloud

## How to tell which one you actually need

Ask: *what is currently capping our test coverage?*

- "We have great tests, we just can't run them at scale" → device cloud (Sauce Labs, BrowserStack)
- "We can't write tests fast enough, and they break too often" → test platform (Endtest)
- "We need both, and we don't want to glue two products together" → test platform (the device cloud is included)

If you're using Sauce Labs today and your QA team is still buried in flaky Selenium maintenance, the missing piece is the layer above the device cloud, not a bigger one.
